An incredible concept, needing just a few tweeks.

In all honsety I hadn't expected much when I first booted up the game, but I was treated to a very pleasent surprise. Where as I had originally expected a time trial or speed based game, I was treated to a nice, pleasent platformer.

The graphics weren't earth shattering, nor were the intended to be. All the graphics follow an 8-bit medium resulting in a more "classic gaming feel." The sprites do have a few more shades than an 8-bit sprite calls for, but not enough to call it a 16-bit sprite either. Either way, the sprites were simple, and didn't take away from gameplay.

The main menu features a techno tune, not exactly towards my tastes, but good nonetheless. Unfortunatly, the actual game does not feature any music, only sounds from your player jumping. A feel this is a huge drawback on such a well programmed game.

The gameplay itself was ammusing and addicting. The game involves you fliping the gravity to allow you to run on the ceiling to get to the other side of the room. Unfortunatly you have to be on the ground in order to flip gravity, resulting in some extremely aggrivating and precise jumps. The ability to switch the gravity once in mid air would make the game a little less about precision and more about puzzling, like it probably should be.

Overall the game is satisfying and with just a few tweaks the game would be perfect.

A good idea ruined by a not so good engine

The idea of the game is simple, control one of two armies, the humans, or the orcs. I personally didn't read the story, but from the looks of it the developer took some time in developing the story before each level.

Unfortunatly this is as far as the game goes before going 'sour.' As soon as the game started up I was treated to some mediocre graphics and some pretty bad controls, requiring you to press combinations of shift and q to make formations and store groups of units. Seeing as this is a very strategic game the fact that the feature was included is very helpful, but ver badly executed.

So after I finished the tutorial I moved onto the actual gameplay. When I had first began I noticed that the engine was very similar to that of Age of Empires and Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, incridble RTS games for the PC. Unfortunatly the game starts you off with only 5 units, and no way to prduce more. This may be fine on the hard difficulties, but not easy mode. To make matters worst the enemies were all clumped together, and had double the stats of my own players. That means double the strength and double the health, and double the defence. I had left one of my units at the castle in case any enemy units attempted to attack while I was gone. Within seconds my small task force of 4 was defeated, without killing a single enemy. Now I'm screwed over because there are still 10 enemies, and none are even close to death. and what do I have to blame? The A.I.

The A.I. was horrendous, to say the least. If any allies are already attackign a unit they will immediatly go into a "neutural" mode per say in which they do absolutly nothing. Where as the engines this game was inspired by had A.I. options including defend yourself, persue to the death, and self-defence only, this game made A.I. just stand there, and since the game is all about controlling an army, this meant you had to pick units one by one to attack one by one, least they interrupt the entire task force. Disgusting to say the least.

The game takes away all control from the player by letting the A.I. take over and neglect the orders of the player, and then deciding to just stay there, allowing themselves to be slaughtered. There is no strategy or skill that could possibly be used to redeem yourself and defeat the enemy armies, resulting in quick deaths and no way to reproduce soilders.

Sound: Not entirely sure, I don't recall there beign any sound in the game whatsoever. That being the case its a 1/10

Simply amazing

Although the game is meant as a satire of people who play games to keep upgradeing something, I found that it was a solid game on its own. The engine ran smoothly, and the gameplay was addictive. The upgrades were humurous and graphics transitioned smoothly as you improved. Building your ship wasnt just I HAS NEWZ WEAPON, but more stratigical as where to put your weapon, upgrade or buy a new gun, and Should I add more rockets or another magnet? Overall excellently done. Perhaps there should be a sequel ;).

Good Idea, But Badly Programmed

For the first few levels I found the game to be very fun, but as you move on, timing has to be precise, you will ocasionally slide off platforms, or just fall right through them, and timing has to be absolutly perfect or you lose, period. The game was clearly aimed at those who are used to speeding around levels in a platform game and not enough around puzzles. I give you a 4 for the intial gameplay and the idea, but the rest needs huge improvement.

Excellent Game

This has to be one of the greatest games on Newgrounds.
The parody-esque humor is very nicely done.
The game is fun and runs smooth.
You also did a nice job making the game feel retro.
It gets a little hard at points, but thats where skill comes in.

Doesn't live up to the original

I found the original game to be much more enjoyable than this version. First off, I didnt like the enemy art work to be honest, of course thats only my opinion. I also found the nemies took to long to kill. I also think the background needed to change as you progressed. Going into a castle does not equal grassy fields. Overall needs improvement.

Great Idea, Not Executed to Its Full Potential

I really love the idea of this game. Games which require you to do a task for a long period of time. However, it seems some of these times are a little ridiculous. For example. holding the K button down for an hour is a little ridiculous, as no one wants to keep their finger on a button for an hour straight, and not be able to switch windows at the very least. I think with a little bit of adjusting on the times that this would be a great game to play.

I mostly program in Game Maker, but a friend of mine knows flash, so were going to try and post flash versions of games here.
